Gluten-Free-Bread Goes Slow Cooker Crazy!

Slow cookers are one of the best kitchen appliances ever invented. Chop up your veggies, add everything to it, turn it on and let it do all the cooking for you. All day long it sits there and slaves away, filling the air with an amazing aroma as the beef, chicken or even bread is cooking away.  So after you’ve had a long day, swamped with activities, now you’re home and the family is starving and you look over and see your hard working slow cooker sitting there. Dinner is done! All you do is take the lid off and serve the amazing meal that’s inside.

At Gluten-Free-Bread, we live, breathe, bake (and love!) our gluten free breads, but about a year ago, we also noticed there was this need for good gluten free meals. It came up at least a couple times a week. A question would turn into a conversation about main dish meals. But not just any meals – we were talking about meals that would suit gluten free, paleo and even low carb restrictions, plus be easy to prepare. Sure – Full meals are a different topic for us, but still one that we felt capable of addressing.

So after a lot of thought and a lot of research, we came up with something that we hope you’ll like.

This cookbook is a culmination of all the slow cooker meals we could create that would pair really well with our very own gluten free breads.

But of course, we didn’t stop there, we’ve also included other recipes and tips to make this cookbook offer just a little bit sweeter.

Let me tell you just a little about what went into this Mouthwatering Slow Cooked Meals cookbook and its accompanying bonuses…

First Stages of the Slow Cooked Meals Cookbook

So starting with the main cookbook – I’d been thinking about doing a cookbook like this since last year. Actually it all started when a reader and I were talking about cookbooks and how so many of them don’t include nutrition information or even have pictures. And then the topics… we know gluten free breads pretty well. But I wasn’t limiting myself to just breads – at least not for this one.

That’s when slow cookers came up.

What a great kitchen tool! They are great for any time of year – cooking in the summer is easy because it doesn’t heat up the oven. And you can cook practically anything in them (we even have a recipe for banana bread in it!) Plus they are EASY!

A slow cooker cookbook was the winner.

After deciding on the main topic, we started with the recipes. Gluten free was the main concern, but so were paleo and low carb. Paleo because it really pairs well with being gluten free. And low carb because I get asked a lot about carb counts. And I really wanted to address this in a cookbook. It turns out that most of these recipes are about 15 g of carbs, so that is really encouraging.

Creating these recipes was a blast – we even added the nutrition information to each recipe and included pictures of each prepared meal. Yum!

The 14 day meal plan was a fun addition – I love meal plans personally. I know not everyone uses or likes them, but they are a huge help for me. So I included one because the hardest part of the meal plan is actually creating the meal plan. So that part is all done for you.
